How to create a cool logo effect with the code404 layer style.
• First create a new document
• Create a background, I made a lovely gradient fill.
• Create a new layer. (ctrl-shft-n)
• Select the shape tool and create a shape. This can be anything as long it doesn't have thin lines.
(you also can use the text tool as long it has a bold body, or you can use a shape of your own)
• Make sure your on the new empty layer.
• Select the path tab (in the layer pallete) and right click on the shape you just created, then select the "fill path" option. Than delete the shape. (rightclick -> delete)
• You should now have an solid shape on a new-layer like this.
• Create a new layer (ctrl-shft-n) and select it.
• Ctrl-click on the layer with the shape. You should now have the contour selected on a new empty layer.
• Go to select (alt-s) -> modify -> contract and use 5 as the value.
• You should now have this:
• Go to Edit (alt-e) -> fill (shft f5) -> use forground fill @ 100% in normal mode.
• You should now have this, the color you use as a fill here won't matter.
• Now its time to (download and) load the code404 style.
• Go to the style tab -> select the option-button -> select load style
• The 2 styles from code404 are now added to the style pallete
• Select the lower shape layer and click on the metal style. (hoover over the styles to show the name)
• Select the upper shape layer and select the fill for metal style. (hoover over the styles to show the name)
• Hurray your finished!!
TIP ! For the best result you should flatten all the all the layers and rezise the image with 50%.
